"Let's Talk Foundational Learning" is a platform for humanitarian and development professionals, as well as education practitioners and leaders, to both learn and share resources, news, evidence, events, and updates related to the promotion of Foundational Learning (FL) as a solution to the learning crisis. Foundational Learning is defined as basic literacy, numeracy, and transferable skills such as socio- emotional skills that provide the fundamental building blocks for all other learning, knowledge, and higher-order skills.
With an estimated two-thirds of children unable to ready a simple sentence by age 10 globally, we believe focusing on accelerating foundational learning outcomes is the first step toward addressing the global learning crisis and averting a generational catastrophe. This space is intended to offer an easy-to-use common platform for continuing the urgent conversation on how to promote foundational learning at-scale.
The Group is owned, moderated, and managed by UNICEF’s Foundational Learning Team based at UNICEF Headquarters in New York.
