The history and development of the Applied Nuclear Physics Group (GFNA in portuguese), started in 1977's, is intertwined with that of the Physics Department itself and, in particular, with the history of the implementation and development of research activities at UEL. During all these years of GFNA activity, in addition to structuring the group, the laboratory and scientific production, we contributed to the training of human resources at all levels, from Junior Scientific Initiation to the training of doctors. The group operates in six lines of research: transmission and scattering of gamma rays, gamma ray spectrometry, x-ray microcomputed tomography, mercury porosimetry, raman spectroscopy and x-ray fluorescence.
