About Surface Phenomena Laboratory

The Surface Phenomena Laboratory (LFS) was created in 1995 by professors Amilton Sinatora and Deniol Tanaka, and is part of the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo. It is dedicated to the study of tribology, a science focused on understanding the phenomena related to friction, wear and lubrication. The various studies involve the control of these phenomena through the selection of materials and coatings, in addition to changes in the design or manufacturing process of components and equipment.
