Laboratório de Geofísica de Prospecção e Sensoriamento Remoto - LGPSR

The Laboratory of Prospecting Geophysics and Remote Sensing (LGPSR) was established in 1979 within the Department of Geology at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC). Located on the Pici Campus in Fortaleza, Ceará, the LGPSR boasts a physical infrastructure comprising a 600 m² covered area on a 2,500 m² site. The facility includes dedicated spaces for researchers, scholarship recipients, and geological technicians, along with geophysics instrumentation, computing equipment, meeting rooms, an auditorium, and a specialized library in geophysics and remote sensing. For four years, the LGPSR also housed the Northeastern Division of the Brazilian Geophysical Society. The laboratory is currently coordinated by Prof. Mariano Castelo Branco and Prof. Karen Leopoldino. The LGPSR focuses on the following research areas: 1. Near-surface Geophysics: Applications in environmental studies, engineering, coastal monitoring, and geohazards. 2.
