The Central Government has introduced the New Pension System (NPS), with effect from January 1, 2004. LIC Pension Fund, sponsored by LIC, has been appointed by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) as one of the three Pension Fund Managers (PFM) under NPS to manage the pension contributions of government employees.
