At LiDAR Saving Lives, (LSL), a nonprofit 501(c)(4) public benefit corporation, our mission is to develop, test, and deploy emerging connected vehicle and roadway infrastructure technologies aimed at reducing the #1 cause of preventable crash deaths—severe blood loss.
Our most notable achievement so far - in collaboration with the Connected Vehicle Systems Alliance (COVESA) and the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) - is the design and development of the automotive industry's first automated IP-based Vehicle-to-9-1-1 data transfer technology standardizing how software-defined vehicles (SDVs) communicate crash events directly to 9-1-1 emergency communications centers in under 3 seconds.
We lead the 9-1-1 Airbag Deployment Automation Protocol (ADAP) Project, a nationwide initiative aimed at eliminating the time gap between airbag deployment and 9-1-1 awareness. By ensuring airbag deployment and vision sensor crash data is instantaneously processed and delivered to 9-1-1 dispatchers, we enable faster, better informed 9-1-1 dispatch of Drone First Responders (DFRs) and ambulances to deliver improved post-crash care, including timely life-saving interventions such as pre-hospital blood transfusions.
