LIFE CAPT-TILE

LIFE CAPT-TILE is an innovative EU-funded project designed to revolutionize how we green our cities and make them more sustainable. The project focuses on developing simple, affordable, and low-maintenance solutions for green architectural surfaces, such as roofs and facades, capable of absorbing CO2 and improving urban air quality and biodiversity. Our cutting-edge technology uses clay tiles with an integrated "artificial soil" layer that supports plant growth. These lightweight, durable, and modular tiles can be installed on any existing building, making green roofs and facades accessible even in residential or low-income contexts. Each square meter of CAPT-TILE surface has the potential to absorb up to 36 kg of CO2 annually, improving air quality and contributing to citizens' mental well-being. Additionally, our solutions create new habitats for pollinators and other wildlife, supporting biodiversity conservation. Over the course of 48 months, LIFE CAPT-TILE aims to scale this technology to a pre-industrial level and demonstrate its feasibility through real-life installations of green roofs and facades. The project is driven by a diverse international consortium of industries, universities, and research centers, all working towards enhancing urban quality of life and fighting climate change.
