A GREAT, ACCELERATING “DIGITAL DIVIDE”
*While tech advances continue to improve the overall human condition, a closer look reveals uneven participation is escalating inequality.
*A profound -- and accelerating -- “digital divide” exists for un/under-connected children in Brazil and Mozambique (MOZ). Many lack phones, airtime, electricity, digital literacy. Many widely-used tech tools are not available in-country or in Portuguese. The most vulnerable among us are thus excluded from information/communication tools critical to basic participation in mainstream societal activities, resources, progress.
*“Ligado” means “connected”, “included”, “online.” We fight digital exclusion by helping un/under-connected children access high-value educational, health, safety, civic, banking, commercial, government, other info via InfoTech tools.
THE GREATEST CHALLENGES CAN BE THE MOST WORTHY
*We believe in pushing into the most intimidating/least popular challenges despite (because of?) tangible progress persistently seeming frustrating/Quixotic.
*While we have a choice, many children do not. Despite Brazil and MOZ being immensely beautiful countries with tremendous potential, citizens must face world-leading levels of poverty, illiteracy, AIDS, teen marriage, teen pregnancy, domestic violence, homicide.
