LimeSprings Beef, LLC, is an innovative beef processing plant that will employ high-tech systems to empower consumers to know their farmer and the origin of their meat. LimeSprings Beef is owned and operated by a qualified team of local business professionals and producer investors. All beef will be supplied from farms within 100 miles of the plant and sold to retailers and upscale restaurants within 200 miles. Major target markets include Des Moines, IA; Minneapolis and Rochester, MN; and Madison, WI. LimeSprings Beef will produce USDA-certified commodity, naturally raised, and grass-fed beef that addresses the top priorities of today’s affluent meat buyer, including: • Locally grown and harvested food (from local family farms); • Fully traceable meat (from “gate to plate”); • More humane for the animals (short-haul to slaughter; low-stress environment); • More healthful for humans (no antibiotics or added growth hormones); • With a lower environmental impact than factory farms. The plant’s proprietary tracking system, which monitors the growth, health history, and planned slaughter date of each and every animal in the system, offers myriad advantages to consumers, retailers, and producing farmers alike. Consumers can be confident in the source, treatment, and freshness of their meat. The plant is slated to break ground in Lime Springs, Iowa in late summer of 2013.
