LineHayat is a Listening Service designed to provide peer support for Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) students, completely free-of-charge. Sharers can call in or text us to have a Listening Volunteer listen and provide them with emotional support.
What is unique about LineHayat is that it is a service run by students for students. We know that our fellow students will feel more comfortable communicating with their peers, which is key to helping them cope with their problems. We also acknowledge that some prefer maintaining their privacy when it comes to talking about their problems. Hence, LineHayat was established based on these three main ideas:
1) Anonymous peer support
2) Trained volunteerism
3) Peer capacity building
On a side note, LineHayat is one of the five winners of the Pitch@USM Competition 2021. Pitch@USM is a platform for the USM community to pitch their innovative ideas for funding and transform them into viable businesses that may eventually create positive impacts towards society. With this win, LineHayat managed to obtain accreditation, seed funding, and additional IT and infrastructural support to help kick-start this project.
