The Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia (LISNS) is the public’s trusted resource for legal information. LISNS is a charitable, not for profit, organization which has been delivering access to justice for Nova Scotians since 1982 through the provision of free legal information and services. The goal is to provide people with peace of mind through tools to avoid or manage legal conflict. In this way, Nova Scotians are empowered to identify, prevent and solve legal issues.
LISNS was recognized by the Canadian Bar Association NS 2018 Access to Justice Award for its innovation in helping Nova Scotians gain access to justice through its first in the country web-based Small Claims Court App and Wills App supported by trained community volunteers through the Public Navigator Program. LISNS is also a co-recipient of the 2018 IWK Foundation Board Award of Community Excellence for its Medical Legal Health Partnership serving sick children and their families.
