Literacy For Kids

Literacy For Kids is an Australian curriculum aligned online program targeted at children aged 8 to 14 to improve their literacy skills in a fun and engaging way. Literacy is fundamental to success in life. It is important for an individual to not only read the words on a page but also to engage successfully with the text. LFK’s core philosophy is that for students to learn they must first be interested and engaged in the material presented to them. We also believe you have to work with students, not against them, in the way the material is delivered. So, with this in mind, LFK has developed material that kids will love. And what do they love? They love spies and chewing gum, sport, zombies, rodeo clowns, weird insects, things that smell, robotics, gaming. The list is endless. LFK has quite a number activities on all sorts of topics for a kids to enjoy and delivered in a format that is fun and in a way they can relate to. The core of our success is our LFK Engagement Model. Learner Specific – Fun Content – Key Skills Focused The key to our program’s success is the interaction between the elements of our engagement model. Each component is important but how they work together is the difference. Learner Specific Great content which is targeted, age /stage appropriate, relevant to the audience, and will generate interest. Fun Content Topics that grab the student’s interest, delivered in combination with video & imagery to hook the learner and hold their attention. Key Skills Focused Providing learning outcomes by focussing on basic literacy skills: comprehension, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
