About Live!Cheshire
Based at New Scene Centre in Chester, people with disabilities come from throughout Cheshire, Wirral and North Wales to take part, to make friends and have fun. Whilst doing so they develop their self-esteem and confidence, improve their physical well-being and develop social, vocational and independent living skills. As a charity our role is to ensure the safety and enjoyment of those taking part, challenge disadvantage and promote choice and inclusion. We are always looking for supporters and donors to raise a money for the charity and we are currently one of the Chester Mayor’s charity’s of choice for 2019-20. If you wish to raise money or make a donation to the charity please follow the link on our website. We are ‘pan disability’ – meaning that we work with people with any type of disability – physical, mental or sensory, or any combination thereof and of any severity – from mild to profound. Historically we have provided a varied programme of fully inclusive and accessible clubs and social activities for disabled children and young people aged between 9 and 25. However, due to developments in our project work, we have extended this to include over 25's. Our current activities include: - Specialised weekly leisure and social groups for children, young people and adults. Giving people the opportunity to try creative, fun and sporting activities in a safe environment with supportive staff who develop the empowerment of the individual giving them opportunity to choose what activity they want to be involved in. - Access to all ability cycles, that can be used on our purpose built track. - Delivery of the Duke of Edinburgh Award to young people 13-25 years old. - Patchwork company - Our music project focused on developing music and theatre pieces of work for public performance.
