The Institute for Translational Medicine and Liver Disease (ITM) is a leading research organization based in Strasbourg (France). Our main objective is to provide a better understanding of liver disease, identify new therapeutic targets and develop novel cures for liver disease.
Our flagship innovative and multidisciplinary programs integrates basic, translational and clinical research, exploites cutting-edge technologies and models in our state-of-the-art facilities, and harnesses strong local and international collaborations with leading experts. Our research is organized around 4 key objectives: 1) to are to unravel the mechanisms involved in liver disease progression to cancer; 2) to uncover virus-host interactions in hepatitis infections to discover novel targets for viral cure; 3) to develop cutting-edge patient-derived models for liver disease and cancer; 4) to translate these findings into novel clinical therapeutic strategies.
To carry out this ambitious programme, we have gathered a team composed of qualified principal investigators, senior and junior scientists, clinicians, surgeons, engineers, technicians, and administrative personnel that work closely together to build our excellent research and training programs.
Educating the future leaders in the field is a core part of our mission. We have set-up a strong interdisciplinary training and mentoring programme for young researchers (PhD, MD-PhD, postdocs), and are integrated within the Integrative Molecular and Cellular Biology (IMCBio) Graduate School at the University of Strasbourg.
