LPOXY Therapeutics is developing a convenient, orally administered, metered-dose capsule to deliver oxygen directly to the bowel to prevent Clostridioides difficile colitis and treat inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Oxygen when administered via expensive and cumbersome routes is clinically proven safe and effective.
Our primary indication is the prevention of the antibiotic-induced superinfection known as Clostridioides difficile colitis, designated by the CDC as an urgent public health threat. Oxygen works via a triple mechanism of action: 1) it is bacteriostatic to C. difficile, 2) inhibits toxin production, and 3) is anti-inflammatory.
