The London School of Cardiothoracics was started by surgical juniors with the assistance of consultant colleagues at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, London.
Our aims:
• Facilitate exposure to the world of Cardiothoracics
• Improve the basic knowledge and understanding of Cardiothoracic surgical procedures
• Teach and improve basic cardiothoracic surgical skills
• Facilitate MDT discussions and learning among Cardiologists, Anaesthetists and Cardiothoracic Surgeons
Our courses:
Over the past 4 years, we have delivered over 15 courses to over 300 medical students, foundation doctors, clinical fellows and national cardiothoracic trainees.
• 2020: Basic Surgical Skills in Cardiothoracic Surgery (BSS), Advanced Robotic Technical Skills (ARTS), ST1 and ST3 Applications Webinar
• 2021: Basic Robotic Technical Skills (BRiTS), Cardiothoracic Review in Intensive Therapy
• 2022: HEE London Courses, Barts Bronchoscopy Course, 3rd Annual BRiTS Course
• 2023: Medical Student Robotics Course, CTS 101: The Ultimate Cardiothoracic Surgery Crash Course, 4th Annual BRiTS Course, LSOC National Charity Debate Series
