LSST:UK

Through LSST:UK, the UK is participating in one of the most exciting and important global science projects of the decade. Experts based in UK institutions are addressing some of the biggest scientific and technical challenges posed by the Rubin: LSST project. Substantial funding from the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) launched the LSST:UK Science Centre (LUSC). It is developing tools and techniques needed to place the UK at the forefront of the scientific exploitation of the multi-Petabyte dataset that LSST will produce over its ten-year lifetime. LUSC activity is prototyping the development of an LSST Data Access Centre for the UK, as well as targeting R&D effort into a set of key science areas. The UK’s investment in LSST:UK will generate multiple positive impacts, for example by enabling greater public engagement with science, building research capacity, and highlighting the UK as a leader in high-priority science areas.
