Die Buchhandlung Lüthy wurde 1838 in Solothurn gegründet und ist damit eine der ältesten Buchhandlungen der Schweiz. 1995 hat Lüthy in Zürich eine Filiale eröffnet (Glatt), 2007 kam die zweite dazu (Sihlcity). 1998 kamen die Scherz Buchhandlungen in Biel und Grenchen zur Gruppe. 2011 wurde eine neue Buchhandlung im Bahnhof Aarau eröffnet. 2019 eröffnete Lüthy 2 neue Filialen: Eine in Chur und eine im Einkaufszentrum Westside Bern. 2020 wurde eine neue Buchhandlung in Winterthur eröffnet und 2022 die neue Lüthy Buchhandlung in St.Gallen eröffnet. Anstelle der Buchhandlung am Bahnhof Aarau eröffnete Lüthy Anfang April 2023 eine neue, grössere Buchhandlung im beliebten EKZ Wynecenter.
Bücher Balmer ist Zugs traditioneller Buchladen. Balmer hat neben dem Hauptgeschäft im Zentrum Zugs auch eine Filiale im Einkaufszentrum Zugerland.
Das Buchhaus Stocker ist seit 100 Jahren die führende Buchhandlung in Luzern. Stocker hat Filialen in Schwyz (Mythencenter) und Stans (Länderpark).
Bücher Schoch in Schaffhausen und die Lüthy Kanisiusbuchhandlung in Freiburg i. Ue. gehören ebenfalls zu uns. Im Jahr 2020 haben wir die Buchinsel GmbH in Liestal und bücherlandquart in Landquart übernommen.
Wir bieten überall ein breites und tiefes Angebot an Medien, kompetente Beratung, einladende Ladenlokale, interessante Veranstaltungen und überzeugende Serviceleistungen. Im Jahre 2005 ist das Logistikzentrum von der Solothurner Innenstadt an die Peripherie in eine ehemalige Uhrenfabrik umgezogen. Im Logistikzentrum wird der Warenumschlag zwischen den Buchhandlungen bewältigt und es sind die Bereiche Rechnungswesen, Online-Buchhandlung und Call-Center untergebracht. Auch die Geschäftsleitung befindet sich in Solothurn.
