Lumière : The Film and Photography Society of JDMC, University of Delhi takes its name from the French word for light and as an acknowledgement to the innovative spirit of Lumière Brothers, the first filmmakers in history. Each year Lumière recruits new and emerging filmmakers and photographers from their college who share, assess, criticise and learn from each others' work.
The society regularly conducts photowalks around different locations in Delhi like Humayun Tomb, India Gate, Majnu ka Tila, Old Delhi, Qutub Minar etc. The members work and collaborate with other societies for covering events, producing teasers & after movies and also successfully hold competitions, film screenings, workshops and seminars related to the field by famous artists to enhance the skills of members. Every year Lumière exhibits its best work in their college annual fest : Symphony, across three days, in the form of photo stories by each member.
