Luso Labu, founded in 2024, is dedicated to empowering underserved creatives and artists, especially women, girls, and marginalized communities. Recognizing the significant gap between these communities and the creative industry—where, despite the sector contributing approximately 3.4% to Malawi's GDP, marginalized groups often lack access to opportunities and resources. The organization fosters innovation and leadership for transformative social change by enhancing access to information, connecting individuals with creative opportunities, facilitating peer-to-peer mentorship, and nurturing skills and talents. Central to its programs is an art-based approach that drives impact and inclusion. Vision A society where creatives and artists in underserved communities, especially women, girls, and the marginalized, thrive as innovative leaders of transformative change. At Luso Labu, our programs are designed to bridge the gap between underserved communities and the creative industry, focusing on women, girls, and gender and sexual minorities. By addressing the challenges of limited information, mentorship, and opportunities, we aim to empower marginalized creatives to thrive and lead transformative social change.
