About LVTS - Laboratory for Vascular Translational Science
The Laboratory for Vascular Translational Science (LVTS UMRS 1148) is a public research laboratory with the objective to combat vascular pathologies through a transdisciplinary approach. Its research focuses on identifying new pathophysiological targets to develop new diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic solutions. LVTS brings together approximately 220 people (researchers and research professors, physicians, engineers, administrative staff, post-doctoral fellows and graduate students) and is affiliated with INSERM, Université Paris Cité and Université Sorbonne Paris Nord. They aim to understand the underlying physiological mechanisms of vascular pathologies through both basic science and large clinical trials, as well as developing new tools such as genes, markers and imaging. To achieve these goals, LVTS hosts major platforms, shared services and facilities to sustain clinical databases and assays, translational clinical investigations, human tissue and cell biobanking, molecular and cell biology analysis (genetics, transcriptomics, epigenetics, protein engineering, flow cytometry), chemistry of biopolymers, elaboration of biomaterials and nanosystems, and imaging (Nuclear Imaging, Ultrasound and MRI). LVTS is organized in 6 teams: cardiovascular immunobiology; vascular structural diseases; cardiovascular bio-engineering; cardiovascular imaging; atherothrombotic disease in heart and brain; Haemostasis, thrombo-inflammation, neurovascular repair. The main location of the LVTS research unit is within the X. Bichat hospital. It also has laboratory space at the Université Sorbonne Paris Nord in Villetaneuse and Bobigny. LVTS is involved in many collaborations, both nationally (involvement in 5 Hospital-University Health Research or RHU, in the InflamEx LabEx) and internationally. The research conducted in LVTS has allowed the emergence and constitution of several start-ups (Acticor Biotech, Tridek-One Therapeutics, Siltiss).
