Sweden is made up of 21 counties and each county has its own county administrative board. The county administrative board is responsible for ensuring that national objectives have an effect in the county, while taking account of regional conditions and circumstances. In its work, the county administrative board shall have a state-wide perspective and coordinate the various interests of society and the efforts of state agencies. It also monitors developments and informs the government of the county's needs.
