What? Líquen is founding a sustainable forest nursery, specialized in producing native european trees. A forest nursery with this specificity sets itself apart from other forest nurseries supplying commercial monoculture forestry, and positions itself as a supplier of concrete biodiversity restoration, nature conservation and climate change mitigation actions, a growing market in the context of the EU Biodiversity strategy for 2030 and the European Green Deal, which recognize the pivotal role of biodiversity to the sustainable growth of the economy and to increasing the quality of life in modern societies. Why? First because we consider forests to be the most constructive solution to sequester excess carbon dioxide in the planet’s atmosphere, the main cause of climate change. Second because we recognize biodiversity as the most significant attribute of balanced sustainable forests, more resilient to wildfire and able to produce greater, better and more lasting ecosystem services. Driven to be a part of the solution to these structural planetary issues, we intend to produce the tree species that found biodiverse forests native to different regions, and disseminate them as broadly as possible, supplying public organizations, private companies and individual citizens.
