Meendum Manjappai

The meendum manjappai campaign by the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Forest, Government of Tamil Nadu aims to eliminate the use of single-use plastic bags and encourage the use of nature-based and eco-friendly traditional alternatives such as the manjappai (a reusable yellow cloth bag). The campaign is targeted at engaging citizens and bringing them on board to support the initiatives being undertaken by the Government of Tamil Nadu to phase out plastic carry bags and is part of the broader People's campaign against onetime use and throwaway plastics in the State. The campaign is jointly supported by GIZ.
