Agriculture employs more than 80% of Uganda’s population—a majority of whom are smallholder farmers. These challenges exacerbate food insecurity, extreme poverty, nutritional problems (especially among children), diseases, and other challenges.
m-Omulimisa -- an Agtech company based in Uganda, leverages the power of technology, farmer-network building, and partnerships to provide agriculture services: inputs demand aggregation and distribution, e-extension services, crop insurance, and output marketing, financed through affordable credit. The model relies on farmer networks, mutually beneficial partnerships with seed companies, off-takers, insurance companies, and microfinance institutions to address agriculture challenges.
