Maaemo AS

Maaemo was established in late 2009, and in March 2012 was awarded two stars in the Michelin Guide, making it the first Nordic restaurant awarded two stars in its first mention in the guide. Four years after, in February 2016, Maaemo was awarded three stars until its closure in December 2019. In February 2020 Maaemo reopened its doors at a new location, which subsequently, in September 2021, won back the three stars. The name Maaemo originates from the Finnish language, meaning “Mother Earth”, where the initial concept is to focus only on the produce “Mother Earth” has to offer and on the quality of ingredients by using only organic, biodynamic, or wild produce.
