About MAANYI Community Development Centre
Maanyi Community Development Centre is a social enterprise dedicated to empowering vulnerable rural communities in Uganda through practical skills training, sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment. Originally founded as a grassroots community-based organization in Mityana District under the name Maanyi Women Development Trust, our journey began in 2020 with just five women growing oyster mushrooms in small household rooms. As more women joined, we expanded into a demonstration farm and, by 2024, had impacted 50 women. In 2025, we officially transitioned into Maanyi Community Development Centre, broadening our vision to become a hub for providing free hands-on training and startup support to unemployed youth, women, and other vulnerable groups. We currently operate in Mityana, Butambala, and Luweero, with plans to expand across Uganda. Our work is rooted in the belief that sustainable livelihoods create stronger communities, and by equipping individuals with practical skills and resources, we foster long-term economic independence. What We Do At Maanyi Community Development Centre, we focus on four core areas: 1. Regenerative Agriculture *Training in eco-friendly farming methods, including oyster mushroom farming and organic agriculture. * Hands-on demonstration projects to promote sustainable food production. 2. Economic Empowerment * Business training, financial literacy, and mentorship for aspiring entrepreneurs. * Free start-up capital to help participants launch their own businesses. 3. Social Empowerment * Supporting women and youth with skills that enhance self-sufficiency and resilience. * Creating cooperative groups to foster peer learning and resource sharing. 4. Eco-preneurship * Encouraging and supporting green startups focused on sustainability and environmental conservation. *Providing a co-working space for entrepreneurs working on innovative solutions.
