Machiah's House

Machiah's House, Inc. is a community-driven nonprofit (501c3) organization focused on transforming the lives of young women who have aged out of foster care in Mecklenburg County and beyond. When foster care ends at 18, many young adults are left without guidance, housing, or support, often facing homelessness, low-paying jobs, health challenges, or worse. At Machiah’s House, we are working to change that. Our mission is to provide safe housing, vocational training, social skills development, and access to crucial services like mental health care and legal advocacy. Through partnerships with community resources, we offer a continuum of care that is culturally responsive and trauma-informed, helping these young women transition into adulthood with confidence and hope. Why It Matters: Each year, thousands of youths leave foster care without family support, and many face incarceration or homelessness. We are in the grassroots phase and in need of housing support to provide these women with safe, stable environments. We have already started a chapter at UNCC and are expanding our reach.
