The Machine Intelligence Research Group (MIRG) is a research unit within the Department of Computer Sciences at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). The group is committed to the advancement of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, with a focus on deep learning, bio-inspired computation, and robotics.
MIRG works with partners in academia, industry, and government to connect theoretical developments in AI/ML with practical needs in fields such as healthcare, education, and economic development. This collaboration is supported and highlighted through the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (ICAIR), which MIRG organizes annually to facilitate knowledge exchange and foster partnerships.
Our work contributes to the ongoing development of AI research in Africa through methodical inquiry, peer-reviewed publications, and long-term research initiatives.
