“Machneyuda” restaurant opened in July 2009 on the outskirts of the Mahane Yehuda market in Jerusalem. The
three chefs Uri Navon, assaf Granit and Yossi Elad designed the place taking inspiration from the nearby market.
The relationship with the market together with the goal of creating original Mediterranean Jerusalem food, made the
restaurant a culinary point of interest in Jerusalem. When asked what food they were going to serve, the chefs answer
was "happy food".
The restaurant cuisine is inspired from the Jerusalem markets seasonal offerings.
Among the signature dishes are "Shikshukit", a dish symbolizing the markets flavors and consisting of "Tchigurt" (tahini
and yogurt), deconstructed beef and lamb Kebab and spices. Another signature dish is the soft Polenta with asparagus,
mushrooms ragu and truffle oil. Another feature of the restaurant is it’s design aimed at making guests feel at home.
Among the serviceware you can find plates taken from the chefs grandmothers kitchen and glasses from the Old City
market. An open kitchen offers an interesting view for the guests.
In 2011 the restaurant won three awards from Israeli “Time Out” magazine, "The most creative restaurant", "best
restaurant in Jerusalem" and "Best restaurant outside Tel Aviv." On February 2012 it was declared restaurant of the
Year by “Walla” website, entitled "Israel's most creative restaurant". At the same year it was declared again by “Time
Out” Magazine as the best restaurant outside of Tel - Aviv. In 2013 the restaurant won a certificate of excellence from
tourism website “Tripadvisor” and selected one of the 100 restaurants worth "pilgrimage" in Africa and the Middle East.
In 2016, Machneyuda won the best restaurant and the “The crowd favorite” from the Israeli “Time-Out” magazine.
