Macro Micro Studio

The Macro Micro studio is a Masters Unit within the University of Dundee's School of Architecture. With a destabilised housing market, gradually increasing fuel prices and over 5 million homes in the UK currently in fuel poverty macromicro designs can and will deliver better quality, efficient and high performing dwellings to compete with developer lead housing typologies at a similar if not lower price. The firms ethos is to drive contextually appropriate, high performance design onto the mainstream housing market. This is fuelled from a personal desire to educate and inform the market on contemporary design solutions to reduce energy demand, achieve an energy autonomy and break free from the copy/paste style of architecture and design which caters to developers rather than users. The studio evolves around student led projects, the current being a study into new sustainable rural housing on the Isle of Eigg and the Knoydart peninsula along with investigations into the architecture of dwelling, sustainable communities, rural typologies and form and identity.
