Made Safe NL

The Made Safe NL Manufacturing & Processing Safety Sector Council (Made Safe NL) is operated by Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters Newfoundland and Labrador Division (CME NL) in collaboration and partnership with WorkplaceNL. WorkplaceNL provided funding for Made Safe NL to work with manufacturers and fish processors in 2019 to promote healthy, safe, and productive work environments. This focused, industry-led approach is working. The lost-time incidence rate in manufacturing has hit a record low of 1.7 per 100 workers, and the lost-time rate in fish processing has decreased to 2.5 per 100 workers. Made Safe NL brings employers and workers together to focus on industry-specific risks to help build workplace safety programs and systems to protect workers. Our services are open to all organizations operating in the NL manufacturing and processing industries (including fish processing). Our expert safety advisors work with stakeholders at various levels of organizations to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the current health and safety practices. We accomplish this by completing a Made Safe NL Safety Diagnostic - free of charge. Using the information gathered by the diagnostic, we can create a road map outlining how organizations can improve health and safety practices and better protect their greatest asset, their people. Workplaces should be safe places. We’re here to help. Made Safe NL’s hands-on approach ensures real-life, day-to-day learning that sticks by providing employees with timely step-by-step, one-on-one education, training, coaching, and mentoring. We also offer follow-up evaluations to measure progress and improvements, supported by relevant and timely data and metrics.
