There is product management...And then there is product managing digital health technologies.
You might recognize yourself in this...you love the added complexity of regulation, the integrity of science (and perhaps are a closet data scientist or researcher), a really good endpoint, the strategic challenge of the system and markets and most of all solving real problems experienced by people who belong to patient groups.
As a rare-disease patient (Autosomal-Recessive Hypogammaglobulinaemia with Hyper IgM) I moved my own career to be purpose and people driven. Playing my small part in making the experience of human life a better one. But I didn't want to make my illness my daily narrative that would have been the case in patient advocacy or the like. So my career is in product management of digital health technologies, infused of course with what it means first-hand, to be (classed as) a long-term patient.
The first product I was involved in building was a pharma patient application, leading to a provider bedside app, moving to a suite of connected devices and apps at a global device and software manufacturer and then trying my hand at two start-ups working in Neuroscience. The product I currently make with a team of talented people tracks personal generated health data to be used for truly passive patient monitoring.
The composition of the DHT Product Manager or Product Lead is different and often I find that content and materials targeted at the profession of Product Management miss the nuance of the world of Health Tech. Perhaps you experience that too.
So the goal of this community and resource is to meet at that intersection and provide more relevant insight, commentary, content and connection to enable us more specifically in our roles.
