It helps researchers to benefit from relevant services by creating a suitable environment for research and innovation in line with the Saudi Vision 2030.
Maeen network infrastructure has the ability to meet research network requirements for quick and efficient transfer of data between its subscribers and make use of unique research applications and services. In addition, it provides inter-connectivity with other research networks in Europe, United States, and Asia to facilitate the communication with researchers around the world.
Maeen Networks has established unique partnerships with similar research and education networks around the world. It has linked to the Internet2 network. This link connects subscribers to a network with more than 90,000 academic institutions, 42 educational networks and 65 research networks representing more than 100 countries around the world.
His royal highness, prince Turki bin Saud bin Mohammed Al Saud, the president of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), launched the Saudi Research and Innovation Network (Maeen) at KACST headquarters in Riyadh on Sunday Dec 17th, 2017. Maeen network operates at high speeds and it is dedicated for scientific research and industrial purposes. The launch took place in the presence of his Excellency Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah Al-Sawaha, directors of universities and representatives of the academic and research institutes.

In cooperation with its partners, Maeen provides facilities in fields of education, research, innovation, and development to universities, research centers, digital libraries, schools, museums, hospitals and industrial members serving all academic researchers, physicians, students, teachers and industrial workers.
