Magic in Motion

Magic in Motion caters to the working professional through an intensive part time workshop lasting eight weeks. It covers the basic concepts of the language of cinema, and takes the student all the way up to actual production. It is a practical course and requires every student to participate in practical exercises at every level. Every student also works on two short fiction films during the course. Students study the following subjects during the course: Introduction to Still Photography, Scripting, Storyboarding, Screenplay writing, Video Camera work, the art of using Sound, Production skills, Direction and Editing. It has been the first of its kind in Bangalore, at the professional level, and has attracted students from different walks of life. About 85% of MIM graduates are currently employed in the Advertising and Television Industry in various parts of the country in various capacities. Many are now successful Directors, Assistant Directors, Production Managers, Scriptwriters, Editors, Audio Engineers, News Readers etc. One has directed a full length feature film, while another two have produced a full length feature in a regional language. Another is working with wildlife programmes and is negotiating with Discovery Channel too. Several have worked of foreign films, on important TV shows, one has his own Advertising Production house, another his own Video Production house etc. MIM is the only course of its kind in the city.
