Magnet Melbourne is a spacious, state-of-the-art, clean, cozy and affordable location for sonic experimentation and music exploration of all kinds. REHEARSAL STUDIOS: Built inside of former cool rooms on a large block that was previously a mushroom farm, our rehearsal studios are thermally insulated, staying warm in winter and cool in summer. Our garden provides refreshing spots to relax in during breaks, or gather around an outside table for focussed discussions. In winter, we've got the fire pit - yes, a fire pit - providing the perfect setting to meet like-minded noisemaking folk. RECORDING FACILITIES: The control room centers itself around a 36 channel 1982 Midas TR-04 mixing console. Apparently only 10 of these made-to-order consoles were produced in the world, one of which one found it’s home in Frank Zappa’s mobile studio. Channelled to the control room are four different recording rooms offering vastly different acoustic qualities. Hire the space or work with one of our sound engineers.
