It is the pillar that envelops the optimistic visions and hopes for excellence in health care service and education. MAHSA, which is the acronym for Malaysian Allied Health Sciences Academy was founded by Professor Tan Sri Dr. Hj. Mohamed Haniffa (P.S.M, P.J.N, D.I.M.P, F.I.C.G.P, MBBS) and his wife Puan Sri Datin Dr. Mumtaz Begum in 2004 and was officially opened in 2005 as a nursing college with only 36 students. MAHSA was then elevated to University College status in 2009 and in 2013, it received its full University status – making this a colossal achievement in less than 10 years. MAHSA started out by offering only allied health science programmes and then expanded to Medicine (MBBS) and Dentistry (DDS) respectively. At present MAHSA University houses eight faculties and two centre, which are, the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Business, Finance and Hospitality, Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery, Faculty of Health and Sport Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Dentistry, Centre for Pre-University Studies and Centre for Post-Graduate Studies – all perched on its 50-acre campus in Bandar Saujana Putra. All of MAHSA’s programmes, though of various fields such as business and engineering, are positioned alongside the healthcare industry – staying true to its founders’ roots and forte. Today MAHSA University is home to students from 75 different countries including Asia, Australia, United Kingdom, Canada and the United States of America.
