For years our founder Elena Sonbok McMillan watched her serial entrepreneurial husband, Michael McMillan, struggle between running his business and raising capital to support its growth. Time and time again, she would watch this same saga play out as his companies would reach a new plateau of growth or seek to buy a new company and require some type of funding to make it happen, and off Michael would go hunting for capital.
The issue was not that Michael could not find capital. The problem she saw was the impact Michael’s focus on fundraising had on both the family and the business.
