Make-A-Wish Mississippi

We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Mississippi was founded in 1984 in memory of a little girl who lived in Gulfport. After she was diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition, a group of caring individuals raised funds to send her, along with her mother and grandmother, to Walt Disney World® Resort. The family and others, moved by the generosity of those who contributed their time and money, felt compelled to reach out to other families facing similar circumstances. Through their efforts, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi became the 36th chapter chartered by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. In 1986, the chapter’s main office was moved to Jackson in order to better serve the entire state. Since 1989, the Mississippi Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted the wishes of over 1,000 kids across our great state. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi is currently granting around 100 wishes per year. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi grants wishes to children residing in the 64 southernmost counties of the state. The Mid-South Chapter grants the wishes of the children residing in the other 18 counties.
