Makesens provides intelligent battery pack solution (iBattery) as well as low power consumption critical component technology solutions including non-contact magnetoresistance current sensors, current switches and ASIC. The mission of Makesens is to provide high quality intelligent battery modules based on 48V with a great performance-price ratio, to enable the large scale applications of electric vehicles and renewable energies.
The major issue of a battery pack is inconsistency devil, causing pack’s lifetime much less than cell’s. During multiple charge – discharge cycles, Depth of Discharge is the worst for the weakest, penalized repeatedly. The worst is when one cell is dead, the whole fails.
In the iBattery architecture with redundancy, every cell is monitored and controlled, with two switches for every cell. Each cell can be at use （“1”）or standby ("0") modes. The weakest cells will always be auto-swapped to be standby and are always well protected. At the end of discharging, depth of discharge are the same or better, most capacity in the pack can be utilized vs non-swapping case. As a result, inconsistency is no longer a devil, pack's lifetime reaches cell's.
