Manchester Giants Juniors currently consists of 7 teams from Under 12’s to Under 18’s playing in Basketball England Regional and National Leagues, Tournaments and Competitions We are a registered Community Interest Company ran by volunteers - Our primary concern is the development and investment into the local community and the game of basketball.
Players are selected through open trials from all areas Greater Manchester, with a high percentage of successful trialists coming from inner city and areas and disadvantaged backgrounds.
Each team trains a minimum of twice per week around a large variety of schools and sports centres around Manchester, we also offer Strength & Conditioning Training to ensure physical development and injury prevention and rehabilitation.
We encourage personal development into other areas of the game offering courses and training to become the next Coaches, Referees and Table officials and pathway into higher education with links to Xaverian College (Manchester Giants Academy Programme)
Our vision is consistently grow and development to provide more opportunities to the youth of Greater Manchester and aim to be the largest and most successful National League basketball club in the North West of England with teams in all age groups regularly making it to the final fours of the NBL.
We work with young men from across the city with over 30% from disadvantaged backgrounds and aim to enable these athletes to benefit from top class coaches who will work with them to not only fulfil their basketball potential, but also into adulthood.
Basketball within our club will help our young men learn about working with others, putting the needs of the team above those of the individual. Also, through the medium of sport help them all understand what it means to work hard, be disciplined and aspirational and fulfil their dreams both on and off the court.
