We serve as the University of Illinois chapter of the national MannMukti organization. MannMukti translates to “mental liberation.” Since our conception in 2019 as the first MannMukti university chapter, our mission has been to foster a safe environment suitable for open dialogue regarding the heavily stigmatized topic of mental health issues, primarily in the South Asian community. We accomplish these goals through hosting events such as our Ask Me Anything with a South Asian Therapist and our Pani Puri Fundraiser along with many more in an effort to promote awareness and facilitate discussion.
With our mission in mind, we also host an annual gala with food, raffles, performances, and even guest speakers, bringing together individuals who are dedicated to fostering open dialogue about mental wellbeing. Through holding this event, we aspire to celebrate the wonderful people in our community and on campus that help us cultivate a safe space to share insights on mental health.
