Maono was developed as a dynamic space that empowers community based mobilisers and organisers to build networks, to build each other's capacity and to build a movement of the people who truly make a change - the community mobilisers and organisers.
It is not quite a hub – at least not the usual kind of innovation hub that Africa is now well known for. It is also not quite the conventional co-working space. The truth is, we don’t know exactly what it is. What we do know is that many community based organisers and mobilisers work in silos in small offices and they struggle with the basic facilities – a stable internet connection, a good place to work, meeting rooms… and because they work in silos, they struggle to build networks and to share lessons they are learning with the world.
