The Mapu Speakers are the world's first active sound system handmade of clay and other low-impact materials, like wood, wool and cork. They fuse state of the art amplification developed in Sound Hub Denmark, with ancestral craft techniques; a product that combines past and present with a vision for the future.
Mapu Speaker’s design and aesthetics are a tribute to the place where they come from, they are locally produced in traditional crafts(wo)men workshops in rural areas, supporting the formation of a new generation of potters through heritage-led-innovation.
Our aim is to show that a more inclusive, conscious and decentralised future is possible, offering local solutions to a global challenge. We dream of a crafts re-evolution and give back protagonism to traditional handcrafts in our industrialised world, building a bridge between ancestral knowledge and technology, thus, minimising the impact of production.
Ultimately, we aim to create a triple sustainable impact in the regions of production: environmental, cultural and social.
