MAPWORMS

MAPWORMS was born with the ambition to overcome the limitations of the current state of art systems by proposing a novel bioinspired shape-morphing robot based on stimuli-responsive materials. In particular, the robot will be able: - to adapt to the environment; - to morph its shape according to environmental cues. The result is a completely autonomous robot, able to perform many different tasks, rather than a robot capable of performing only under specific circumstances. Smart materials, smart technology, biomimicry and eco-friendliness are the four word representative of the path followed by MAPWORMS in order to create a new branch of robotics. One that is sustainable and makes robots behavior much more similar to human beings. A consortium of 6 partners is making it possible by putting all of its effort in the development of the project all around Europe and the world.
