MARA DANZ

DANZ is a sustainable, multidisciplinary Swiss fashion and textile studio based in Glarus. DANZ was founded in 2021 by Mara Danz, after working in Paris for Maison Margiela, among others, she returned to the mountains to visualise her own visions of fashion. She has since realised various projects, like fashion collections, shows, performances, textile works, exhibitions, screenprint collections, showrooms. Driven by curiosity, the design processes are often playful and intuitive and require a lot of room for experimentation. We believe in transforming fashion in a joyful place to create awareness and celebrate our identities. DANZ‘s speciality are the colourful, handmade screen-printed fabrics, these are inspired by Swiss textile history. Mara Danz rummages through the archives and searches for suitable objects, once found, they are processed and reinterpreted. The pieces are designed, created and produced with much attention, care and love locally in the Glarus area to keep the production routes as short as possible as a contribution to our sustainability mission. Mara Danz won the swiss design award, the design grant of prohelvetia, the yvonne lang-chardonnens excellent scholarship and the award for cultural workers of glarus.
