Medical Anthropology Research Center

The Medical Anthropology Research Center (MARC) is an interdisciplinary initiative of the Department of Anthropology, Philosophy and Social Work, at the University of Rovira i Virgili in Tarragona, Spain. Its members include professionals from the ASTERISC Research Group in the Department of Communication Studies, and the Departments of: Nursing, Business and Economics, Catalan Philology, History and Art History, and Surgery and Medicine. Together they work to orient research and exchange at the interface between Social and Human Sciences, and Health Science. The Center is characterized by applied interdisciplinary research, training and consulting. Nowadays, the URV has been developing and expanding as an authority on the discipline in Southern Europe, as was recognised by the International Medical Anthropology community.
