Sustainable Farming
Western farming techniques can transform the local industry from subsistence to profitable, sustainable farming. We are doing this through investment in the local community, in quality infrastructure and Quality Assurance practices. Our challenge is to transform without social disruption. One only has to look at the industrialization of the western agricultural systems in the USA and Australia. Local communities will die as farms get more industrial and mechanized, with lower labour. Communities lose out as families migrate to the city. Local health, businesses, community services and police services are decimated. We are focused on sustainable growth – people, the environment and the society.
Functional Food
Many associate the Japanese as the culture that eats seaweed but the Celts in UK had at least 30% of their diet hundreds of years ago. Seaweed is produced and consumed in many cultures. Irish kelp is grown and processed as quick frozen, fresh spaghetti like product and sold on High Street store. Functional food is food that can be consumed as food, but it also improves health. Many research groups have shown reduction in blood pressure, the silent killer, reversal of obesity and related diseased including reversal of fatty liver, weight loss, reduction in body fat,
Plant Biostimulants
Seaweed can provide alternatives or complement fertilizer. Extraction of liquid from seaweed includes plant biostimulants and crop yield increases of 30% are common. When used with artificial fertilizer they permit reduction of other fertilizers.
