Why Seaweed? Sustainable Farming Western farming techniques can transform the local industry from subsistence to profitable, sustainable farming. Functional Food Many associate the Japanese as the culture that eats seaweed but the Celts in UK had at least 30% of their diet hundreds of years ago. Seaweed is produced and consumed in many cultures. Irish kelp is grown and processed as quick frozen, fresh spaghetti like product and sold on High Street store. Functional food is food that can be consumed as food, but it also improves health. Many research groups have shown reduction in blood pressure, the silent killer, reversal of obesity and related diseased including reversal of fatty liver, weight loss, reduction in body fat, Plant Biostimulants Seaweed can provide alternatives or complement fertilizer. Extraction of liquid from seaweed includes plant biostimulants and crop yield increases of 30% are common. When used with artificial fertilizer they permit reduction of other fertilizers.
