Our Story
Co-founded by Tuma Young, a respected Mi'kmaq elder, and Dr. Matthias Bierenstiel, a chemistry professor, Maskwiomin was born out of a decade-long journey of research and rediscovery. The duo combined Tuma's deep knowledge of Mi'kmaq healing traditions with Dr. Bierenstiel’s scientific expertise to revive an ancient birch bark recipe.
