About Mass Literacy
Mass Literacy is the non-profit initiative of the Boston Herald. Our mission is to support literacy in Massachusetts. Mass Literacy partners with public and private institutions and organizations to educate the public about literacy through coordinated media outreach, recognize and reward leadership and excellence in the field of literacy, empower strong families and a literate workforce and encourage collaboration and partnerships that strengthen literacy. Mass Literacy, formerly the Massachusetts Literacy Foundation, was created in 2002 by the Boston Herald to help Massachusetts achieve a fully literate population. For the Boston Herald, the foundation is an investment in the future of the commonwealth and the future of the newspaper industry. The Boston Herald brings to Mass Literacy the unique ability to connect schools, families, communities and the workforce using the newspaper as the common denominator.
